Soft latching power switch with inrush current limiting feature.
In the "normal" mode the inrush current is over 2A. In "inrush current limiting" mode the inrush current is less.
I am not using powerful MOSFET, because there is no other working model (the generic one is not working with such a low gate-source voltage).
Problems with this circuit:
- The button TURN_ON is drawing too much current and lowers the base voltage of Q2/Q7.
- Q8 is requiring too much base current. MOSFET is better (but slightly expensive).
- The first problem can be prevented by using MOSFET connected to Q2's collector (instead of Q7 and Q6).
Ideas for improvement:
Q8 can be replaced with a constant current source like LM317. Using MOSFET as current source is also practical (resistor between source and ground), however the voltage drop accross the mosfet (used as current source) can be bigger than the minimal voltage drop accross LM317 (1.25V).
