Circuit Description

Graph image for Comparator / Op Amp Adjustable-Pulse-Width Monostable Multivibrator

Circuit Graph

Adjustable-pulse-width monostable multivibrator (one shot oscillator) using a comparator or operational amplifier. Aside from the timing resistor and capacitor the pulse width is dependent on the reference voltage. However, the sensitivity to the reference voltage is low since the relation involves the logarithm of the relative values between the power supply and the reference voltages. Thus, only small adjustment can be made by varying the reference voltage. Srefpol selects between negative or positive reference voltage. Strgpol selects between positive or negative trigger signal. Switches Srefpol and Strgpol must be set both to left or both to right. LEFT = output stable state is low, output quasistable state is high. RIGHT = output stable state is high, output quasistable state is low.
