This is Live Wire LED indicator designed to demonstrate that much of the reverse bias voltages drop across Rectifier Diode than LED as there is much more dynamic resistance of rectification diode than LED in the reverse bias. Also, if Capacitor with sufficient capacitance , say 100uF is connected in parallel with LED, there is no reverse voltage drop across LED
